Hello all,
Today I will be discussing resale and thrift shopping with you all! In my town, there a few thrift shops, and a couple of consignment boutiques. Every opportunity I get, I head over to my town's shopping district and search for deals! As of recently (I think Macklemore has to do with this!), thrifting has finally been viewed as a cool, budget-friendly past time. Especially among hipsters! I have always enjoyed getting the most for my money, so thrift shopping is perfect for me! The excitement of walking into a boutique and getting the chance to dig through unique clothes is amazing! I have found tons of shirts, costume jewelry, and even shoes (which are a little harder to find) at my local thrift stores. Here are my tips for thrift shopping!
1. Bring a friend! An honest friend will help you find a piece that flatters your body and your wallet. Also, having a friend will you another point of view of different styles and combinations that you might not have thought of!
2. Have an open mind! Many people think thrift stores are dirty. This is not true! And of course, you may come across a few stained clothes. These can be easily washed! And for the price that they're probably listed at, it's well worth the effort. There are tons of hidden, sometimes designer gems hidden on thrift store shelves! Don't be afraid to try new things. Many shops even have dressing rooms for you to try on potential purchases!
3. Always donate old clothes. Recycling your clothes is good for you and the environment! It frees up space in your closet while reusing garments you may have grown out of. Some thrift shops even donate part of their profit to charities! Donating your out grown clothing is both good for others and for yourself.
4. Sample. Before splurging on a huge item of clothing, check out your local thrift store and sample a similar item there for less. This will give you a feel of your desired purchase (whether it's a trench coat or a pair of high waisted jeans) without breaking the bank.
I hope you found these tips helpful! What's your best thrift store find? Have you gone thrifting before? Comment below!

I LOVE thrifting too! Great tips- I feel like one of the main reasons that more people don't thrift is because they have a closed mind when it comes to style. People get hooked on the T-Shirt and jeans brands like AE and Arie or Hollister and they close them selves off to more creative ways to dress. Thrifting requires creativity and a strong sense of your personal style.
ReplyDeleteI agree Sidney! Many people don't realize how fun it is to dress creatively!
