Suffer the Children by John Saul is about a mysterious, conflict plagued family (the Congers) living on a beautiful estate. The home is host to a dangerous forest and a mysterious embankment. Local legend claims there is a secret cave hidden on the Conger's piece of shore.
The family of four (plus their elderly housekeeper) experience many tragedies and surprises during on eventful autumn, after one by one, children begin disappearing.
The Novel contains a twist in every chapter and allows the reader to experience many point of views during the story, revealing the gruesome truth behind the mounting disappearances. Although Saul leaves many questions unanswered, Suffer the Children is definitely worth reading.
